Matilda Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation offering financial aid to students and education providers seeking assistance in financing education. We are dedicated to helping students and education providers achieve their passion in life, by providing necessary finance options needed to support their tuition fees.
We are founded and fully funded by a couple from the Suthipongchai family, who believe in giving rather than possessing. The two believe in enabling people to do what brings them joy and helping those affected by social injustice. Both are hard-working people, and seek to support those with determination and share similar values.
Matilda is set up with the goal to restate the true purpose of education – leveling the playing field and enabling the most relentless people to fulfill their dreams. In Thailand, education is treated not as a door to success for everyone, but as a tool to preserve the existing social statuses of the elites. To be able to compete, you need to be resourceful.
We want Matilda to make a real long-lasting impact and primarily address the gaps not addressed by other public work, so we decided to run Matilda with the policy analysis tool. We have found two gaps in the Thai education that fit with our mission. The first concerns the lack of funding to community school for the underprivileges in rural Thailand, and the second addresses the lack of proper student loan system.
Nonetheless, each program is driven by the belief in our core values. Please feel free to read more about our them values in our blog!
